The Investigative Committee recently completed its investigation of a high-profile criminal case about the activities of a child pornography studio located in Minsk. There are six defendants — five negligent mothers who gave their children into the hands of a pedophile, and the photographer himself, who filmed minors on camera and then sold videos and photos of naked girls. These people have been charged with 65 episodes of criminal activity. Among them are debauchery, rape, human trafficking, distribution of pornographic materials depicting minors by an organized group, as well as sexual exploitation of children. The Investigative Committee provided details.
According to Alexander Kuzubsky, investigator for especially important cases of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee, the basis for initiating a criminal case was information received from foreign colleagues from the United States through Interpol in Belarus about the distribution of child pornography from the territory of our country.
— At the initial stage of the investigation, colleagues from the Main Directorate for Drug Control and Combating Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs did a lot of work to identify possible people who could be involved in the production of child pornography.
A little later, law enforcement officers found out: the pedophile was originally from Ukraine. He was married, raised two young children, and officially worked as a mechanic at one of the enterprises in Minsk. Around 2014, he began to take an interest in photo sessions with children and selling such materials online. Then he found parents in Belarus who would not mind giving minors to his “project”. He rented photo studios and premises in Minsk and other cities of Belarus, where he produced child pornography. The pedophile not only filmed minors for criminal videos, but also raped them himself.
According to information from banking institutions, from January 2020 to February 2021, the criminal received income from his illegal activities in the amount of 137 thousand Belarusian rubles (about 40,000 US dollars).
He gave 40 thousand rubles to one of the mothers - she was looking for buyers for child pornography, and also provided her children for filming. By the way, no one from the accused's family knew what he was really doing. After everything came to light, his relatives stopped communicating with him. After his arrest, he immediately confessed to everything.
The foreigner involved residents of Minsk and the Mogilev region, as well as citizens of neighboring countries, in his criminal activities. On the Internet, this was positioned as a production group of non-standard projects allegedly to promote girls in the modeling business. But in fact, children were filmed for porn videos in different studios.
Thanks to the study of psychology and specialized literature, the perpetrators gained the trust of children. The videos were sold, including on the darknet. Clients were asked for between 200 and 1,500 US dollars for an archive with a photo shoot, depending on the frankness of the photos. The services were used by pedophiles from Great Britain, Australia, the USA and Russia.
— The photographer offered the accused women sums of money for using children, and they agreed without thinking twice. The amounts varied from 200 to 5 thousand rubles. The photos themselves were archived, and access to them was given to potential clients only after the money was transferred, with the provision of passwords for the files. By the way, before selling these materials, the buyer's identity was pre-studied to avoid information leaks. The price tag for the photos or videos themselves with the participation of girls reached several thousand dollars — everything depended on the degree of nudity and frankness of the photo shoot.
In some cases, child porn was made to order for a specific buyer — with a specific model. At the client's request, an image could be created for the girl — for example, a schoolgirl or a fairy-tale character: Malvina, Little Red Riding Hood. In this case, the price of the photos increased significantly.
In order to involve women more in his criminal activity and create incriminating evidence against them, the photographer secretly photographed them with their children while making pornographic materials.
The women themselves had permanent jobs in Belarus, education, they had complete families, raising 2-3 children in each.
During the investigation, the identities of the victims were established: these are little girls from Belarus. There are 11 of them. Their ages range from 5 to 12 years old, many of the little girls are sisters, and one of the pairs are twins. The investigator for especially important cases also noted that during a conversation with psychologists, they said that their mothers themselves persuaded them to undress during the filming for some gifts, money or food:
- When the girls agreed to what would happen to them, the pedophile gave them money - from 10 to 60 rubles, gave gifts - mobile phones, clothes, trips to a cafe.
As reported by the Investigative Committee, the total volume of information that was reviewed, including pornographic information, is more than five terabytes. With Alexander Kuzubsky, we could not ignore the difficulties that the investigators encountered:
One of the mothers who provided her children for filming porn.
— It was more difficult in a moral sense: the cynicism of the mothers towards their children, expressed by them during the initial interrogations, was striking, it was hard to perceive what was happening, to watch all these videos where they were seducing and raping small children. What is even more surprising: the mothers of these girls were indifferent to what they were doing and what crime they were committing, because for them it was an ordinary desire to make money. The depth of depravity recorded in these videos was shocking, the decline in morality of parents towards minors, when mothers specially bought sex toys, women's underwear, in order to use all this in the videos with their daughters.
At present, the investigation has been completed, the materials of the criminal case have been transferred to the Prosecutor General's Office for sending to court. The actions of the main defendant, the photographer, and one of the women are qualified under a number of articles of the Criminal Code, including "activities of an organized group with a clear distribution of roles", the sentence for these crimes can be up to 20 years in prison. The minimum sentence for the charges brought against the other women is 12 years in prison under the article "Child Trafficking". They are all in custody.
The main thing is that the girls are now out of danger. They have been given to relatives to raise or removed from their families to protect them from anything that could harm their physical, mental or moral development. Psychologists are working with them.
During the investigation, 15 searches were conducted and more than 60 items and objects related to the criminal case materials were seized: sex toys, eight laptops, two desktop computers, 22 phones, six hard drives.
